I have solved the problem!
It was a stupid error, however only partially from my side
I was told that the graphical card had 32 MB Video memory.
In fact, it has only 16 MB.
So the switch in XF86Config
VideoRam 16384 / VideoRam 32768
shows/hides the cursor

I do not see cursor neither in xdm nor kdm (KDE desktop manager)
But mouse works!

I have the following problem with potato release
I have invisible cursor in X windows.
Mouse WORKS: I can do everything one can do
with mouse (e.g., click, select, move windows and folders)
BUT the cursor is invisible.
On text mode the cursor is visible.
