I suppose a bit of both. I am mainly interested when it might be
packaged. Though I am not in a hurry to switch to it.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I was wondering what Debian
has planned for Gnome 3 and the Gnome-Shell. Also if anyone was
interested or looking forward to using it. I believe it is going to be
released by upstream in under 24 hours.

No problems! :) I think this package will phase out as per this bug
report. So it might be better just to use QT Curve for now:

Are you using KDE? I have found that if I am using the QT-GTK theme it
makes Iceweasel linger after I tell it to quit. The solution is to tell
KDE to use another theme for GTK apps.

Whenever I use synaptic or any other package that requires root access
in Gnome, instead of asking me for the password I get a windows that says
"Granted permissions without asking for password"
the '' program was started with the privileges of the root user without
the need to ask for a password,
I had already looked into my cache, and that is not it. as a test I have
put a rule in my directory entry so that it will only allow to serve
test.php on localhost and that stops it from showing it on a external
computer. So its not the cache, and I do not run a proxy.

Hello:
Please forgive my ignorance about this subject.
How exactly does one go about getting a SSL certificate created that can be
signed by one of the authorities in Debian? I have installed apache-ssl &
openssl, and have tried to follow the instructions on Verisign's & Thawte

I believe that gv (a postscript

lilo.conf did *not* need to be modified.
Anyhow, thanks everyone!--Virgil

I tried it, a couple of times to be sure, but , NO, it does not solve
the problem. Thanks, though. V.

True...but I do not believe you'll find the latest version 1.2.2 as a
debian package. Last time I checked, the deb package is quite outdated
(1.16?). You can however install from source. See www.lyx.org

Running Debian Woody Kernel 2.4.18 on an IBM Thinkpad T-22.
Upgraded RAM from 128M to 256M.
Windows XP recognizes new RAM, and apparently has no difficulties with
it.
Linux does NOT seem to recognize the added RAM.
