I get this while trying to scp onto a local machine(on the same subnet, both
machines running Lenny).
Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer
lost connection
I am able to ping the machine fine.
How can this be fixed?

iam trying to install Debian Lenny on VirtualBox(3.0.6), the installer gets to
partitioner and then asks me to select the driver for the harddisk. The same
thing happens with QEMU.

figuring out how debconf and dpkg-deb are related.

dpkg-deb does the actual installation/removal of packages
dpkg is a frontend to dpkg-deb
apt is front end t
