If u already have xserver-xfree86 do this
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
apt-get install gnome
startx
That should get u working
probably the x-window-system package is not installed, by installing gnome all
over again it could fix ur problem

VIA VT8235 CE
Grpahics:Intergrated VIA Unichrome
MB : ASUS A7V266-MX
I was able to install Rehdat 7.3 on it and windows too.
