Hello all,
I've just installed Jabber 1.4.2 and the server seems to be working but I
can't register/connect. I've read the thread bout making sure
mod_auth_plain is loaded and I think it is (see part of jabber.xml) I'm
sure it's something I've overlooked. For info I'm running Debian 2.4.20

Hello all,
My company has decided to shutdown all IM services on our corporate network.
Does anyone know of a web based IM that doesn't need a client to connect. It
doesn't have to be really fancy. Thanks for your help.

I just recently (today) got a notice that I've been used as an open relay.
I've checked with 4-5 web open relay checkers and 1 telnet relay checker and
all say I'm clean. In my mail log I keep getting these bounce messages with

I'm trying to compile the exact same image on my Athlon 1700 system. I've been
following this thread with great interest. I've seen some good pointers from a
lot of folks. Could someone please just put a dummy list of steps on how to
upgrade a kernel. I've downloaded about 3 howtos but they are

Hello all,
I've researched all the lists and how-to's and have gotten thoroughly confused.
I've also loaded lpr, lprng, printtool and numerous other programs trying to

Hi all,
I've been paranoid after reading about people relaying through your e-mail
server and spamming other systems. I've tried to lock down my system to
keep that from happening. Today I got 2 email with these headers and I'm
wondering if I didn't catch all the opennings.

Thanks Jason,
I've got kde2 up and running and I really like it. The main reason I was
looking at ximian was that it supposedly can connect into a windows exchange
domain. That way I could blow away my w2k and put debian on my laptop.

Has anyone installed ximian-gnome on woody 2.2.20? Thanks.

Hi, being a relative newbie with Debian I'm looking for some help. I'm
running woody 2.2.20 and KDE. Does anyone have a step-by-step guide on
setting up xdm to support remote x-windows sessions or that can point me in
the right direction. I've found a how-to that is geared for Redhat but of
