logs/dumps using persistent systemd
logs and/or kdump. Hopefully that'll give me some good clues for figuring out
the actual issue(s?). I'll be back on this list then.

the unofficial image with non-free firmware for Buster
installed without issues and is what I am using currently. Still I would like
to figure out what is going wrong because (1) I normally like to use testing or
even unstable and (2) one day I'll have to upgrade this laptop anyway.

About 150 emails per day are stopped before Spamassassin, then I see
maybe one in my Junk folder every other day. Monitoring the log files,
I have noticed no false positives.

Just using rsync to
copy file by file.
A quick google search just brought up this link:

which is very similar to how I did it.

I can confirm that the above works. I recently used rsync to copy my
live system to another partition, excluding /dev /proc /sys /tmp and /home.

My experience with that version years ago is the same as Doug's, it
worked and the fonts were ugly.
