There is a documented feature of gpm that enables some sort of a "pipe"
between it and X. According to man 8 gpm the option is -R. It will
create a fifo named /dev/gpmdata, and X can use it as a mou

A quick and dirty solution could be symply add the line

I think you must read Gnome-Dialup's source code.

pon is some sort of script who calls "pppd call connection".
Gnome-Dialup is some sort of front-end for "pppd call", as pon is.

It's one working /etc/apt/sources.list file:

Well, in the CodeCommander's Makefile, we have a "prefix = /usr/local",
an "includedir = ${prefix}/include" and an "oldincludedir =
/usr/include".
I a bit lost.

Hello!
First, I'm proud of Debian!
I upgraded my Debian system to Potato this weekend, and everything went
really fine! Enven my glibc 2.0.7 programs ran (almost all)!
Thank you all developers! Go ahead! Make the world better!
Second, I'm a bit confused about one point:

Hello all
I'm near from upgrading my Slink to Potato using dselect's FTP, but I'm
afraid if it can drive my system _really_ bad (broken).
I tried it six months ago, and the result was a reinstalling Slink from

Did anyone try this way? Worked fine?

it doesn't recognize one slave device without master on the secondary
IDE, you must change your CD-ROM's jumper to set the CD-ROM drive as
master (/dev/hdc).
It _will_ solve your problem.

Strange. If i can remember, Slink has libc5 compatibility libs.
Why not glibc2.0 compatibility libs for potato, as RH-based distros
have?
I'm CC'ing this post to debian-devel (the right place to talk about this
issue).

There are two versions of the Mylex DAC960 with slight differences. The
newer one is well supported in Linux, but the older is not supported at

probably it's caused by the slow response time of the CD-ROM.
A simple solution is to put de CD-ROM drive in the secondary IDE,as
/dev/hdc or /dev/hdd, and boot from it. It ever worked for me, despite
the system/distro I was using.

Indeed Fraunhoffer is the best till now. LAME is promising (and almost

BladeEnc produces some bad artifacts when you use bitrates lower than
168Kbps.
FhG at 256Kbs has no audible differences from source to MP3.

Hello
I'm trying to put two Linux boxes (my Debian Slink and a RH one) using
LAN and connect both to Internet via DialUp.
My /etc/init.d/network is:

route add -net 127.0.0.0
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1
I did not insert the line
route add -net 192.168.1.0
cause it returns

If you connect it to the first serial, /dev/ttyS0. To the second,
/dev/ttyS1
A way to simplify is make a symbolic link to the device, creating a
/dev/mouse pointing to ttyS0 or ttyS1.
