Actually I believe that versions.h is made when you compile with kernel versio
n headers on (not quite the correct terminology here I think) and is made with
a 'mak
make dep in the kernel source dir. At least I think that is correct :)

You should really be using potato (Debian 2.2).
It is much more up to date, (and it should auto detect your CD)
Or, you may want to go for something like Libranet (debian potato based), with
an easier instal.
