Getting Debian to use MD5 and shadow for /etc/passwd

Hi guys I have a debian woody machine, that doesn't use MD5 nor shadow. So I was wondering how I could get my debian machine to use MD5 and shadow. I know I can't convert passwords from one form to another, but that isn't a problem for me. Thanks for any info!!! Sunny Dubey

. Why? because this piece of CSS software would SAVE me money. Instead of paying my sys admins 35~ an hour, to deal with computer crap just because they are too stubborn to use CSS, I'd be paying them to have computers installed on the fly, so they could do more productive things (and fun things too) just my two food stamps, i'm up for flames.
