How do I take care of recursive dependencies while
installing packages. Particularly, gnome-bin depends
on
libgnome32 which in turn depends on gnome-bin.
Is there any place I get some detailed info on debian
packages

I am trying to install libpng2 1.0.5-1 on my machine.
However when I do:
dpkg --install libpng2_1.0.5-1.deb
it tells me that libpng2 depends on libz1 and that
libz1 is not installed. However, according to the
debian site, libpng2 depends on zlib1g which I have
already installed on my system.
How do
I am trying to install debian 2.1r5(slink) on my comp. One
question that I want to ask is.. is it possible to get debian for a
newer version of kernel (say like kernel 2.2.1).

other comps, running redhat, I get version mismatch.

I am totally new to debian.. It seems like while installing, the
drivers for my ethernet card were not installed properly, since it gives
"network not accessible" could someone guide me as to how to install the
drivers.
