Save yourself a lot of trouble, just pick up a USR V92 faxmodem or equivalent
making sure it's -external-. Besides absolutely ensuring compatability, you
can use it for a backup dialup connection on the WAN side of a broadband
router if/when you get cable or DSL access to the 'net.
Good luck,
Just in case you forgot: did you md5sum your resulting .iso file and compare
that result to the md5sum posted in the iso directory on the iso download
site? (it's supposed to be automatic but you might as well see it with your
own eyes).

Hello there,
Is there anyone out there who has managed to get the above CD writer to work
with Debian (using cdrecord or other package to burn CD's)? How?
It is a parallel port portable writer.
Thanks, Steve

What's a card reader? (I am totally unfamiliar with digital photography).
Does this mean taking
Hello there,
I'm not able to find any info about whether or not a USB digital camera can

Does anyone know of any doc's that can get me started? Or is there a reason I

Starting with the slink base system, I installed packages lprng,
magicfilter, gs. Then did magicfilterconfig --force
I ended up with the following in /etc/printcap
lp|hpdj|HP Deskjet540:\
:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/hpdj:\
:sh:pw#80:pl#66:px#1440:mx#0:\
:if=/etc/magic
I have newly installed slink, have an lp module, and created a
printcap file and spooling directory for my HP540 deskjet. What is
the command to print a file? I have read the printing HOWTO, it
seems there should be an lpr command, or possibly LPRng, but I
don't see any sign of them. Also doe
