Make menuconfig errors

Hi there, I've just installed "Etch" from netinstall CD and I want to compile a custom build kernel, but I get the following errors. What am I doing wrong? I've the kernel source 2.6.18, libncures5-dev, kernel-package, fakeroot, debhelper installed. I am running the command in a root terminal.
