im having a similar problem but im wanting to use debian on a ATA100 drive
my specs:
asus a7v mainboard
duron 800 processor
ibm ata100 30gb hdd
debian just wont recognise the hard drive for a install
adding the experimental promise ata100 support under kernel 2.4 didnt seem
to make any difference
currently im running a duron 800 on a Asus A7v
mainboard with a IBM ATA 100 hdd
i am having trouble with the ata support and the
hdd naming of "HDE"
ive tried a recompile with 2.4.0 kernel to no avail
does anyone have any ideas?
would a web install somewhat bypass this
problem?
