OK, Bart, Andreas, and Paul,
Let me start by saying "thanks for replying." Needing more detail on the

Instead of buying a commercian "muscle box" I think it would be more
fun to instead link two pc's to serve one user, namely, myself.
Thinking about this, I wanted to contact the group.

Anybody know what this means when I am trying to install Sarge on a laptop.
I get this and the boot hangs, I get this right after I install the base
system and it stops me from even getting to the point where I can install
anything.

Hi,
Bought a gateway laptop. Can't get Sarge to install (I have a 14 CD set.)
I really am not sure how to explain the problem, so if you could bear with
me, I will try to explain what I tried to do. After wrestling with Win XP
trying to dominate my disk, I managed to create logical partitions f
I was wondering if there was a standard place for bash scripts. A
convention or "normal place" where they can be placed to be turned into a
command, accessable to all users.

I'm buying a laptop and was wondering, is there a faq or howto anyplace on
copying the whole distribution to a partition on a HD? It would be great

A lot of guys in my Linux SIG have the solution to throw money at the

Hi, all,
Thinking about getting a used laptop and loading sarge into it. I was
wondering what specs I need to look for (or, actually getting models to
look for.) What kind of memory, disk size, and processor do I need (or,
wont work on sarge.)
Also, I want to be able to dial into the internet t
Hi, looking for help regarding PPP options.
I am using Sarge and my dialup has to reconnect several times before
actually linking to the internet. I was thinking maybe I need to add an
option (like I had to with "noauth".) I thought maybe some kind of ip
compression is confusing my dial up provi
Hi, all,
Installed popfile, and am enjoying my training of it. I would also like to
use it for netnews and was wondering if anybody on the list was familiar
with using the nntp module.
Everytime time I activate the nntp module by setting the one in the config
file, it works great when I restart

Reading over the thread I have to hope that I did sound as if I were

Hrmm, looks like the best thing to do is explain what I am trying to
