I have tried the two different dell perc 5i cards in three different
machines now. One HP with a core 2 duo, an HP with a socket am2 amd, and
another HP with a p4 ht 3ghz machine. I do have a ht 3ghz p4 dell, but I'd
rather not use it with that pc. I prefer to use one of these in the socket

I'm having similar problems on two different machines. For now I'll
focus on the laptop running stable on a g4 ppc CPU.
After I switch to a console screen, or exit from xorg, the console
font is corrupted. I can see what I type, but you cannot make out
what the characters are on the screen.

I'm building a lib under sarge in a debootstrap chroot as a normal
user (and fakeroot). When it gets to this part, it's trying to modify
the system /etc/ld.so.conf (which is naughty afaict). What's the
proper way to prepare this?

ISA slots so I have to use a USB to Ethernet adapter. The one I have (a
Linksys USB100M) uses the RealTek 8150 chip so I have to have the rtl8150
module.
The module is not available on the installation (as far as I can tell)
