i wanna access certain files on this server via a client running drdos7.0
(caldera), which is supposed to be a netware client. the client is attached to

i have a NT machine and a linux(samba) server connected via ethernet.
1) i read the smb howto, but it seems that in my case i need a [public]
section for the linux-shares to be seen on my NT-client. if i specify a
[global], [printers] and [homes] section the way described in the smb.howto

solved my problem with the pcmcia-based network. only had to edit
/etc/pcmcia/network.opts and enter there my ip-adress, subnar mask, network
adress etc, and everything worked out fine!

i am running debian linux 2.1 (kernel 2.0.38) on a laptop with a 3com 3c589D
ethernet card (pcmcia).
there are scripts
A) /etc/init.d/pcmcia (starting pcmcia services)
B) /etc/init.d/network (containing loopback & nic config, ip adresses etc..,
starting the network)
C) /etc/pcmcia/netwo

daemon "problem" solved, thought that telnetd is installed automatically when
install telnet, but not the case. downloaded telnetd, guess that will solve my
problem. same goes for ftpd.

i entered the code in the file /etc/init.d/network. the top 2 lines already
existed (it's the local loopback device, i guess). after i executed the script
and did "ifconfig", i see "lo" and "eth0" with the parameters i entered in
/.../network. GOOD!
