Is there some way to reset dselect so it knows what is currently
installed? The problem is that I de-selected some items that I didn't want
to remove. They had some dependency problems so I de-selected them too.
I didn't want to remove them so I cancled out of dselect. Now I want to

Is it possible you installed diald? I installed diald and changed the
/etc/diald/diald.options so the connect option pointed to pon. That is a
big mistake because the pon script has the persist option. If you would
like to use your existing pon script you can modify the
/etc/ppp.options_out and get

fine just as long as I don't try to compile with sound. NOTE: I did
use the "make-kpkg -revision custom.1.0 kernel_image" option. This is the

to be really stubborn. I have tried :
kill -9 pidhere
but nothing happens to the process. Does anyone have a suggestion on how

edited /etc/rc.boot/0setserial and added this line:
${SETSERIAL} -b /dev/ttyS3 irq 2 port 0x2E8 skip_test autoconfig
${STD_FLAGS}
and commented out this line:
#AUTO_IRQ=aut
Two days or so ago the Debian libc5 to libc6 Mini-HOWTO was posted here.
I was wondering if it is okay to
1. use dselect and connect to a local ftp mirror
2. When prompted for Enter space seperated list of distributions to get
during setting up the FTP Access Method, enter hamm/hamm
3. update
