touchpad not working in HP 500

Please help...i have been trying to install debian 4 on my laptop, a HP 500, but the touchpad is not working at all. I am fairly new to the linux domain and do not know how to get it working, plese let me know in easy steps if there is a way to get the pointer working. i even installed the kernel 2

Hey I have been trying to install linux in my HP 500 laptop but all have failed. I last installed the Debian 4 and this also doesnt work. Please help. Everything goes fine, but when the GUI comes up my touch pad doesnt work at all. After installation also the touchpad is probably not even detecte
