Trying to install netscape on deb box using KDE.
Stderr is :
./netscape: error in loading shared libraries
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
I currently have libstdc++2.9
and libc6 version 2.0.7.19981211-6
Do I need to upgrade this package?
I'm trying to get pine working on top of qmail.
I'm having problems with ./configure in /var/qmail/qmail1.02
The output of ./configure is as follows:
Your hostname is nezgnu.
soft error
Sorry, I couldn't find your host's canonical name in DNS.
You will have to set up control/me

I want X. I decided to first install pine, so I can
email you folks with some XFree86 newbie questions
from my Debian box. I see now I have to compile pine,
and in order to do so I need dpkg-dev...
Says `apt-get install dpkg-dev`,

I'm trying to install package man.
When I `apt-get install man` I get a message that states "E: package man
has no installation candidate." What does this mean?

responded to
my questions. I see now why Debian's popularity is growing so
rapidly: fast, free, and accurate technical support : )

My current ISP (school) limits my PPP sessions to only 90 minutes. If I
am using dselect (or apt) to download a package and lose my connection,
will I have to start the process over again? If so, is there any
reliable download manager for Debian?

dselect with this CD. Is this a bad idea?
I've been unable to successfully install the man utility. I have a
ppp connection working (a fairly slow connection), am I better off using
dselect with ftp?

So sorry, I've installed Debian 2.0 (hamm, ! slink ). Don't know how I figured
that. I'll upgrade to 2.1 when I get PPP going. I'll get to the howto on that.
Of course suggestions and tips are always welcome.

No such file (binary or otherwise) named pppconfig on my system (slink). Is
there a package I need to install for that? I in
/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA, which isn't on my
sysstem. /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_VGA16 is there, not that is matters.
Where do I get XF86_SVGA. Am I just missing the package? I've tried
finding a package with that name using dselect (&CD ROM) with no luck.
What am I missing?
