Tried this today, and nothing happened. Could this be because I did an
'apt-get clean', just to recover some space (probably not the best thing
to do)? Or does the silence imply that everything wen OK, even though my
HD was 100% full?

the problems I had (it should be in the list archives). jigdo sounds
really cool, b/c it took *hours* to download an iso; I believe it would've
taken < 1 hour if I'd used jigdo.

Make sure the *entire* line (starting at 'deb' and ending with 'non-free'
is on one line in your sources.list. Email programs like to add newlines
which don't belong in the sources.list
Hope this helps.

I presume someone's mentioned Opera? It's not open source, but it's pretty
darn good.

Same question for a laptop - genuine Intel 90MHz Pentium with (I think) 16

I looked through http://www.debian.org/ and just didn't see (or recognize

You've probably already thought of this but ...

try someprot --greeting "$A $B"
There's an excelleng bash scripting HOWTO (don't know the URL right of t

I use flwm on my Debian PowerPC Woody distro. Runs nice. You have to click
on the desktop to bring up a menu for running programs. Of course, the
title bar in on the left, not on top. Takes some getting used to, but I
really like it.

e to just get a
network card, even though it won't be connected to anything?
(3) This one is probably in a FAQ or HOW-TO, I haven't looked yet: if I
connect the two computers via a crossover cable, how would I set up the
Linux boxes?

understand correctly (*lots* of presumption on my part about what the

That's including the back-tick and tick mark and exclamation point. I'm
trying a different jigdo URL to see if I get better results.

approx. 30Kb/sec - not a good option for doing an internet install. I
don't see any iso's of Woody (b/c it's not released yet) out for me to
download and burn to take home. What are my options?
Thanks in advance.

I use NetTerm for my Windows terminal stuff. It supports WinSock and dialup.
It's got all the features I've ever needed, and seems *very* configurable.
