For question 1:
grep foo `cat name.of.file.with.list.in.that.file`
For question 2:
lsof /usr/lib/cows
This will show you which file is currently opening /usr/lib/cows.
Regards.

Probably you have all the filesystem drivers modularised. Have a look
of /usr/src/linux/.config and check if ext2fs got an answer of y or m in
the configuration.

I guest it may be my mother board's ide controller not working well
with the enhanced ide driver for the first hard disk.
For those who are interested, the controller is ALi14xx series.
Now I am very happy with my linux box.

Hi,
Could anyone tell me if the afterstep 1.0pre5 been debianised yet or
not?
Cheers.

I think if you have a slip account you don't need slirp. Slirp
is for those only having a shell acount in their server.
Cheers.

Yes, pppd works with slirp without a hicough. I tried both slackware and
debian and both are ok. So this is not a debian specific question.

Could you let us know your chatscript? (Make sure you modify your

I am using a debian 1.1 box installed from infomagic cd. I have setup a
printer to print using ghostscript and all works well. But just one
question, lpq always say printer is ready and printing even when the
printer is offline. Is there any way to report the true status of the
printer?

If you can run slirp, don't you know that slirp can simulate slip, cslip
and ppp.
I used pppd to talk to slirp. ftp, telnet and netscape run well.
