Yes. Two of these are fixed, the third you can configure to your own
liking. For that option, I picked low brightness (the greatest
powersaver AFAICT) with fast CPU but the "silent" cooling method.
This gets me responsiveness with a reasonable battery life for
themselves.
And so on: make sure you read the entire section.

If you latex the .dtx file itself, you get a formatted and (hopefully)
commented source code listing.

suspend happens during the write to disk. (Not using apmd means that
the disk isn't sync'ed at all.)
A possible solution might then be to get the sources of apmd and make
it sleep longer before suspending. The relevant sleep call is found
in the apm_suspend function in apmlib.c.

Another package that might be popular is leafnode, for maintaining a

particular package is small, although its implications for disk usage
are not.

/etc/profile, you can guarantee a proper environment even for users
who do not have their own ~/.xsession file.

Later I applied the e2compr patch to the kernel, and this did break

I switched consoles and executed the "shadowconfig on" command (as
recommended for the 1.3.0 distribution). Then I allowed xdm to start.

My none-too-informed best guess is that if you fail to install X
