I just installed alsa the other day, and like to get esound to work with it.
But when I give the command
#apt-get install esound-alsa
Reading Package Lists... 100%
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
asclock-themes atlas2 gperiodic libbonobo2 l
I have that same card, and I have it working. Under X 3.3.6 use the SVGA
server, under X 4.0.x I use VESA, and that works, but I suspect there is a
better server(ie more HWA). Anybody knows which that could be? The card is also
knows as S3 86c362 or 86c368 IIRC, maybe that's why you couldn't fin
lay any sound. Any
suggestions?

I am not sure how, but somehow I really messed up my dselect requests.
When i run [I]install, dpkg wants to remove a whole host of packages,
among which gnome and X. From dselect I have tried to clearly tell
dselect that I want to install the packages it wants to remove, but that
all doesn't m
