Oddly enough, I can't seem to access the internet in Debian (was working fine in Slack). I have a cable modem and my ethernet card can ping itself, but I can't ping anything on the web. Do you know where I can try and configure the ip/subnet/gateway for the card? Matt "ObeseW

Hi, being a newbie to GNU/Linux I have a few questions... 1. Debian keeps starting X as soon as I boot into linux. It give me the graphical login screen and everything. This is annoying because I don't seem to be capable of exiting X... Is there any way to stop Debian from running xdm on start

Strange x11 problem

I'm a relative newbie to debian, and happened upon this problem. I configured X11 through xf86config and then ran startx. The problem is that when I run it it says "no directory 'mouse'" (something along those lines)... Looking in /dev I see that I have no /dev/mouse. What should I do?
