I did put the "kernel.printk = 4 4 1 7" line into /etc/sysctl.conf
and it does the job. There's no more "eth0: flipped to 10baseT" message

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the network card reads
"for 10baseT or Coax" on it. And it really seems to work fine.

So this is quite a minor issue.
I'm just wondering if I could get it to not mess up the
login prompt.
