wrapper script in Debian, which calls the Server itself. As
mentioned, check that the absolute path to your Server is on the first
line of /etc/X11/Xserver. All that the wrapper script does, is setup some
security bits and pieces.

you put it, the .deb file "xpm4.7" in the current directory.

For some reason, this makes recompiling the kernel childs play.
the package file fails on download, then it wont be installed, let
alone configured, because the file itself is a compressed archive of the
binaries, manpages, and docs. Configuration is a cosmetic part to the
install process.
