Hello,
I have recently recompiled my kernel (obtained from .deb source package,
2.2.19-6) to include support for agp
So I added CONFIG_AGP, CONFIG_AGP_I810, CONFIG_MTRR, CONFIG_DRM,
CONFIG_DRM_R128 to my kernel config files, compiled, reboot, and the
boot hangs with a

Hello,
I have noticed today that my page up/dn keys are not responding...
In order to backtrace this problem, I would like to know if there exist
a utility which echoes the codemap received by the keyboard driver, or
any keyboard troubleshooting prgm for that matter.
Thanks,

Hello,
I am a happy user of apt... and my cache is getting big. I notice that I
pile up several versions of programs as newer ones become available. Is
there a command to clean this up a little bit. Searched in apt-cache and
apt-conf. I saw a Cache-Limit, but it's not exactly what I need. Thank

Hello,
I am trying to setup an hp 5mp printer at home, off the parallel port. I
am running kernel 2.4.2, with parport enabled, as well as the IEEE 1284
option. And the printer seems to be correctly recognized at bootup
(parport0).
I am using lprng for printing, and typing 'lpr somefile' doesn't d

Hello,
I have a device connected to a serial port. There is no protocol, I just
send out characters.
I would like to know how to have a shell where every thing I typed is

Currently I can output files to this device (Cat xxx > /dev/ttyS

Hello,
I am a little bit puzzled by the serial port on my laptop.
When I run setserial -g /dev/ttyS0, it seems to recognize the UART, the
IRQ, and all that.
when I run statserial, it recognizes the serial port on the pcmcia card
(/dev/ttyS1).
If I force statserial on /dev/ttyS0, it gives me a

Hello,
I installed Potato on a laptop, and the fonts are mishaped under X. The
fonts are uneven throughout an xterm. All the applications seem to
inherit the same problem. I have played a little with the fontpath in
XF86Config, but that wasn't good enough. Has anyone encountered the same

Hello,
just a quickie...
How can user lambda on my box tell if

I think ppp puts something in /var/lock, but is there an equivalent for

As a side question, someone told me that you don't have to be root to
tell what IP I have (Note that I used D
Hello,
I am trying to get the new kernel on my laptop, so I got the .deb for
the test5 version of 2.4.0.
I compiled it, it seems to run fine until I start X, where it hangs,
without a chance of appeal (Dec 12 is not my deadline though).
Looking at dmesg, I see occurences of "LSR safety engaged!"
