problem

Okay i installed linux but i can't seem to install anything with dselect. I think I must have configured my ethernet wrong. This is what it says when i try to install something with dselect: Connecting to ftp.debian.org... Net::FTP: Bad hostname 'ftp.debian.org' at /usr/lib/perl5/Net/FTP.pm line 4

newbie question

Okay i installed debian linux 1.3 yesterday on my computer, but i don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do once it boots and it goes to the prompt ($). I would like to install xwindows (or another good program) and bitchx. Could someone please tell me how i would go about doing this? -- TO UNSUB
