I am still Debian1.1 - compiling a C++ program, which used to
compile cleanly only a few weeks ago, gives me the following
error message:
/lib/libm.so.5: undefined reference to '__getfpucw'
Do I need to upgrade any libraries ?
Can anybody help me sort this out please ?

Hi,
Thanks to all who responded to my problem of not being able
to use the tar command with the 'M' option for multivolume
archive.
The machine was capable of creating such archives and then
reading its contents, but every attempt of extracting it
with the command:
tar xvMf /dev/fd0
ended

A few days ago I noticed that my Debian 1.1 can not
extract multivolume tar archives from floppies - each
attempt ends up in segmentation fault.
I have upgraded fdutils to the 4.3-5 version saying "Y"
to new-style floppy devices. I also upgraded tar to the
version 1.11.8-5.

I do not seem to be able to use tar for multivolume archives
on my Debian1.1
I make a tar file of a file like:
tar cvMf /dev/fd0 myfile
and this works all right, prompting me for next volumes and
the archive is created OK. I can look up its contents with
tar tvMf /dev/fd

If you are using latex version latex-2e-4 (you can check
issuing the command: "dpgk -l latex\*") get latex-2e-7 and
