Are you by chance using a 2.6.21 kernel and uswsusp? I have noticed the
exact same thing with the above combination on testing. With 2.6.18
everything works perfectly.
/proc/$GS_PID/environ | \
sed -e 's/DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=//'`
export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS; su $user -c "$GNOMESCREENSAVER_LOCK"

To UNSUBS
; that variable so that the gnome-screensaver-command can access it.

Thank you, that looks interesting.
I was looking in this direction, but didn't manage to get it working
properly. Adding some lines .xsession would probably do it. I'll se what
I come up w
s: Failed to execute
dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session
Am I missing something here? Shouldn't it be possible to activate the
screensaver from outside of the user's X session?
It would be nice to be able to use gnome-screensaver because quite
frankly xscreensaver looks like crap. :)

An even neater way to remove all messages from the queue would be
something like:
# exiqgrep -i|xargs exim4 -Mrm
