Hi,
I've been supplied with a C++ binary that I'd like to be able to run on
my Sarge system. As I understand it was built on a recent Redhat
derivative with a GCC >= 3.4. I also understand that this is not
compatible with Sarge and the application won't run (which it won't,

If both interfaces are on the same subnet, then you aren't routing.

Hi List,
I've got this friend who's got this problem, I'll make it as short as I can.
I've installed Debian 3.1 onto a SCSI RAID5 provided by an Adaptec
AIC-7899. The system boots and runs fine. I'm able to access the array
via the I2O subsystem.

Nevermind, there's nothing on my Sarge system related to devfs, so I
guess it's only in the kernel. Perhaps a custom built kernel is the
only way to avoid these messages? Or I can wait

Hi All,
Can someone explain this strange LVM2 on RAID-1 behaviour?
I've recently made a fresh install of Sarge using a recent
debian-installer (more recent than RC2). I've got two 80GB SATA drives.
I've partitioned them as follows:

Hi,
Just a quick one, can someone explain how I can make fixed width fonts
(from the artwiz-fonts package) available to GTK2 applications,
specifically gnome-terminal (you know where I'm going with this).
Artwiz fonts are available to X, but not to GTK2 --- why? What do I
need to do?
Thanks,
Hi Debian Users,
I've recently got into some trouble with the gforge package. Namely, it
didn't install properly, now I can't remove it. Specifically, the
packages gforge-shell-ldap and gforge-ldap-openldap can't be
uninstalled, leaving apt in an unusable state. I have submitted a bug
report fo

Hi List,
I'm looking at installing Software RAID on two new servers at work (one
web and one db server). I'm really only interested in RAID-1 for it's
redundancy, I'm not particularily concerned about performance. I've
gone through the Software RAID HOWTO and it seemed fairly straight
forward, h

Hi List,
I'm hoping somebody here can help me. I've been asked to set up some
IP based accounting so that internet usage can be tracked on a per-user
basis at the office. I have three problems here:
1) We have a firewall performing NAT on all incoming and outgoing
connections

Hi List,
Just a quick question:
I really enjoy using the scripts in /etc/init.d for starting, stopping
and restarting services because it makes me feel like I'm safe doing it
the Debian way. I have one gripe however --- when they don't work, they
don't tell you. I have seen very few /etc/init.

you can make Exim deliver in Maildir format, then Cou

Hi List,
I've been having real trouble with quotas on Woody. They are working to
a degree, I have kernel support, I have the quota files, but I have
recurring problems and the gut feeling that things just aren't quite
right and I don't trust them to work properly.
I'm running Woody with a custo

Hi List,
I've been running Exim for a few months at a smallish office site,
recently I migrated the system to Courier-IMAP (with Maildir format
delivery by Exim).
A few weeks ago a user complained that they hadn't received some mail
from a friend that had tried to send them some messages. I che
Hi Dave,
I too have recently been having quota related nightmares with Woody. It
seems that some quota tools look for old version quotas by default, while
others look at the kernel to get the version. In any case my current
work around is to provide both old and new versions of quotas for all
