When booting, my machines start in the console and I use startx to
run XFCE4. This will only work if you, as your normal user, in your home
directory, run/usr/bin/xfce4_setup
This will do make all the required changes to your config files.

IMHO, these embedded_audio_devices are more trouble that they are worth.
My approach is to disable the embedded device and to install a
relatively inexpensive (e.g. Ensoniq 5880 based) pci audio card.

GUI tool to configure Samba, you are IMHO
better off with Webmin. The last time I looked, SWAT removed all of the
usefull comments from smb.conf

works well on the one installation that I have applied it too.
My reason for the patch was to improve hdd performance.
