Hi,
I'm using UML with a Debian potato root_fs and I have a problem with
debconf and the dialog interface. When I run deconf in the terminal
where I started UML or in one of the 2 xterms, characters used to draw
borders are messed up (as if using the wrong charset). Here is what I
see:

Hi,
when i do a 'ls -l /var/mail' (directory imported with NFS), each line
takes about 0.5s to appear. I think it is caused by very slow NIS
requests. Is there a way to speed up things ? The server is a sunos4
machine.
Is this related to this warning in one README file :

Hi,
when i change the /etc/exports file, i do a
# /etc/init.d/netstd_nfs reload
in order to take the modification into account. But it does not work.
I even tried
# /etc/init.d/netstd_nfs stop
# /etc/init.d/netstd_nfs start
but it does not work either.
Does somebody know why ?

Hi,
i'm using the latest adduser package from bo-updates and i found that
it does not accept user names containing 8 bits chars. I'm talking
about a user's full name (first name + family name), not short name
(login name or home directory name). I don't know if such names are
supposed to be val

Hi,
i first installed Debian 1.1 (how was it called btw ?) and then
upgraded some packages from rex, bo and hamm. I did not upgrade the
whole system with deselect as i had neither a CD reader nor a network
connection. So i could only use floppy disks to get and install some
packages with dpkg.

The XFree 3.3 packages appeared in bo-updates, but they are not there
anymore and were not moved into bo (as some other packages). I asked
myself if they

Hi,
after upgrading (successfully) to libc5_5.4.20 and ld.so_1.8.9, the
commands "dpkg -l" and "dpkg -i abc.deb" fail with the error message
(i'm citing from memory as my machine is not connected to a network) :
dpkg : cannot resolve symbol 'sysinfo'.
The command "dpkg --version" works, though.
