character pb. with debconf/dialog in UML+Debian FS

Hi, I'm using UML with a Debian potato root_fs and I have a problem with debconf and the dialog interface. When I run deconf in the terminal where I started UML or in one of the 2 xterms, characters used to draw borders are messed up (as if using the wrong charset). Here is what I see: Debian

NIS very slow (frozen)

Hi, i first installed Debian 1.1 (how was it called btw ?) and then upgraded some packages from rex, bo and hamm. I did not upgrade the whole system with deselect as i had neither a CD reader nor a network connection. So i could only use floppy disks to get and install some packages with dpkg.

cannot run dpkg anymore

Hi, after upgrading (successfully) to libc5_5.4.20 and ld.so_1.8.9, the commands "dpkg -l" and "dpkg -i abc.deb" fail with the error message (i'm citing from memory as my machine is not connected to a network) : dpkg : cannot resolve symbol 'sysinfo'. The command "dpkg --version" works, though.
