"ARP storm" describes it perfectly. The [EMAIL PROTECTED] network is getting
pounded. Anyway, thanks to you guys who responded already. I guess
I just jot down anything strange as Code Red for the time being and stop
worrying about it.

I just loaded up ipTraf and there are lots of ARP requests coming into
eth0 (internet) from many different IP's. I listed one below. My cable
modem light has been blinking non-stop for about 3 days straight now
and it never did that before. What's going on?

be possible to start out with just a kernel and the apt-get
utility? Then I can use apt-get to install individual packages as needed
(with dependents) from my Debian CD-ROM.
Thanks in advance for any help getting this setup.

Thanks for the info on calling an external file. It worked perfectly
(once I got the PATH setup correctly)!! Thanks again.

I'm not harboring secret info or logging credit cards but you would think,
from looking at my logs, my Debian firewall is guarding the Pentagon
(and seems to be doing a good job of it too..hehe).

How do I remove software that I compiled on my system rather than using
the .deb packages? Removing .deb packages is easy, but how to get rid
of other stuff I installed from source?

What's the proper way to get pump working with [EMAIL PROTECTED] cable modems.
They require the hostname to be seen. I have been able to get my debian
system up using Dhcpcd, but never with pump.

to dstdomain acl's out of the squid.conf file.
It appears to be an issue with Webmin not being able to resolve hostnames
into addresses when going through Squid (I'm guessing here).
Can anyone help me fix this?
Thank you,

esting. I already have
eth0 setup in "/etc/network/interfaces" as "iface eth0 inet dhcp" and
it starts using dhcpcd which works fine but comes after the problem line
above in the boot sequence. How do I stop this delay?

Is there a file somewhere that I can purge that has all the pending for
install packages so I can just wipe it out and start fresh again?

Hello,
I'm trying to use Webmin to administer a Debian router/firewall, but
I was hoping not to install X-windows in order to use a GUI browser.
Is there a non-X GUI based web browser available for Debian that I can
install to use Webmin without loading X-windows?
