Package conflicts

Hi, I would like to install the Zorp firewall (http://www.balabit.hu/en/news/) on Woody. The packages provided by the manufacturer require libglib1.3 and python-base, which are not available on woody. Instead of libglib1.3, we have libglib2.0-data (replacing libglib1.3) and python1.5 or python rep

Hi! I'd just like to say thanks to all who sent me help on modules, new/mail, emacs etc. (sorry this took so long, I only have time to deal with Linux on weekends). You're a nice bunch of people. In the future, I'll try to be more careful and not raise flame and holy wars on personal things like e

Module loading

2000-05-01 Thread Kovacs Istvan
Hello! As some of my modules still won't load on demand, yesterday evening (CET) I visited the IRC channel #debianhelp. There, someone told me that not all modules are supposed to load on demand. Sure enough, the drivers for my SCSI card, NIC, SB AWE32 won't load on demand, but work fine with modp

Modules & name resolution

2000-04-24 Thread Kovacs Istvan
Hello! I've just installed potato, re-compiled the kernel, and now (some of) my modules will not auto-load. I can load them with modprobe and/or insmod. I have to load the driver for my Initio SCSI card, SB AWE32 sound card and RTL8019-based NIC by hand. The question is: why? And of course: how do

X problems

Hello! I cannot some X programs, as they need libx6, which depends on libc5, and I couldn't find a libc5 package in potato's list. (Actually, I installed slink rev4, removed almost everything, let dselect know where my potato packages are, and selected whatever I thought was useful. I'm fairly new
