I recently installed debian 7.1 and I reinstalled it at least five times. I've

boot menu, but you don't.
Since you are able to mount the drive on your laptop try taking a look
in the different logs to see if you can find any useful information.

least the last two releases.
Of course, you can always downgrade the system when installed, but I
