Hi,
Using isolinux woody cd, the boot hangs after:
something ttyS01 something
If I boot with bf24 to use a 2.4 kernel, it hangs after:
hdc: something 70324/16/63
...
/dev/ide/something same as hdc [PTBL] 4298/255/63
(The actual cylinder counts are different than I print above).
Now, I don

With opera, when setting up handlers for mime types, you can tell it
to pass the URL to the application. The result with mp3/ogg files, is
that the application (e.g. xmms) plays them while they are being
downloaded.
With netscape and mozilla in linux, the entire file is downloaded,
then it launc

Yes, it's a remote repository. I'll see if that's it.

Hi,
This is not really a debian question, but I'll ask anyway. I ran out
of disk space while retriving files with cvs. Since then I've freed up
2.5 Gigs worth of space, but cvs still says no space left on device. I
have only one e2fs partition mounted as root, and it has only about
20% of it's ino

I don't see any package called kde, except in the packages for sid.
I see kdebase for woody (It sure would be convenient if the packages
had the same names as the packages tha
Hi,
I have kernel 2.2.16 installed which I never compiled from source, and I
want to add a kernel module to support my sound card. Is there a way for me
to generate the .config that matches my installed kernel so that I can
easily recompile the kernel as it is, but with support for my sound

Hi,
I've installed chrony, but it doesn't go. Can you make it go?
More specifically, chronyd is running, and /etc/chrony/chrony.conf points
to a stratum 2 server in santa cruz and another in quincy, CA. There's
an entry in syslog which reads:
chronyd[4028]: Selected source 165.227.1.1

I'm running potato. When I run kdm, it doesn't read my .xsession file. How
can I correct this?
Also, some of the instructions given for installing kdm don't fit with the
debian file layout. Where can I read about debian's X file structure? It's
especially difficult because KDE doesn't seem to offe

Do you think it's possible to use usb keyboard + mouse in xfree? The
keyboard and mouse are unresponsive in XF86Config under 3.3.6.

How do I fix my console keymappings? I chose standard US keyboard during

Hello,
I dual boot windows 98 and debian potato. In windows my clock is set to
Pacific Standard Time. In linux, I've set UTC=no in /etc/defaults/rcS, and
/etc/timezone to US/Pacific. Yet, in linux the time now is Feb 7 2:07pm,
while in windows it's Feb 7 10:27pm (or there about). How do I fix this
In case any developers are reading that are interested, I thought I'd
mention the problems I had during install of potato from floppies.
First, the reason why I chose to install potato, is because I was unable to
install debian after buing two different books with slink on them.

I am trying to install ecasound. It complains that it can't find
