So, I've been having troubles recently with finding the /var partition
being too small and needing to purge stuff from it to allow processes
to work properly, etc. I intend to do a fresh install to a SSD with a
bigger /var to avoid this, however in the meantime until I do this I
seem to have delete
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, running Android 2.1, but 2.3 promised by SE.
Works ok, but a few niggles with it, but the camera is great on it I'm
finding (8mp, carl ziess lens).

solved this now. So simple in the end, simply removing the _'s from
the version field in /var/lib/dpkg/status fixed it.

If you use XFS the xfsdump/xfsrestore programs are very good.

If you have a garage or shed that might work, keep it outside, a

Linux should and does work fine with HFS+ as I used my iBook G4 the othe
rnight in target disk mode and mounted it on my athlon64 (using Mepis),
worked flawlessly.
Fat32 (vfat) works with Macs, NTFS won't.
OS X will get ZFS with v10.5, if they added XFS too it'd make life so much
easier!

Sorted the problems with LVM2/Debian/XFS.
Problems turned out to be caused by Debian going into a bit of a tizwoz
about device files.
A reboot sorted it all out.
