My favorite way of configuring networking is to install "resolvconf",
"pump", and "dnsmasq", and get IP from DHCP. If it's a laptop, I also
use "laptop-net".

To get X running, I recommend you install these packages with "aptitude"
or "apt-get":
x-window-system
gnome-desktop-environment
gdm
To reconfigure your X server, run
dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xfree86

I find solving this sort of dependency problem much simpler using the
interactive interface of "aptitude". Have you tried it?

eir version is hacked for it or if QtParted
supports it out-of-the-box, but this rescue cd can resize a Windows XP
NTFS partition with no trouble at all. Don't waste any money on
PartitionMagic!
