version confusion in r-recommended?

Apparently r-base package updated my R 1.8.1 to R 1.9.0-alpha in a recent apt-get upgrade (although it says it is a version 1.8.1.cvs.20040321-1). After the upgrade I cannot load the library 'nlme' from r-recommended anymore but will get the following error message instead: > library(nlme) Error

I have apparently deleted by accident the kde2.sh script from /etc/kde2/ that the symbolic link startkde points to. locales setup in unstable

Every time I "apt-get upgrade" or do anything with apt-get the process hangs on "Generating the locales...en_US.ISO8859-1..." I tried to edit the /etc/locale.gen file as well as purge and reinstall locales. Any hints what to do? I have i386 unstable. Kari

I run Inspiron 7500 with potato with no major problems. APM works - resume/suspend is OK. Hibernation needs FAT-partition and I have not tried to set it up. I don't have the winmodem (I ordered without) but if I recall correctly there might be ways to get it work, too. I don't know about the DVD -

diald does not bring ppp

I have slink (no updates) and diald installed from debian CDs. My diald.options file is almost straight from the examples. I am using 'pon' in my connect line in diald.options. The problem is that although diald dials and appears to bring up the link when requested, no traffic is occurring on the l
