I've brun the three isos of potato 2.2r2, and I have installed debian
another time because my system got broken with the last update to
woody. Well, the case is that I've added into sources.list the cdroms
and a ftp site (ftp.uk.debian.org and the security ones).
The problem is that apt a
Hi all
I would like to know if using potato, it's safe to use the helixgnome
apt source line, without broking down anything (I just want to install
some packages, not gnome entirely, as gimp, gnapster, xchat...).
Thanks in advance.
Hi all
I'm trying to configure two soundblaster 16 pnp isa in the same
machine. The two cards are not the same so they should be properly
recognized (both work on windows fine).
I'm using 2.2.18 kernel and have compiled the sb module. I have also
used isapnp.conf to setup both cards, and the conf
Hi all,
I have now a currently working Potato system organized in simple
partitions as I posted in another message. Well, my question is about
how can I use LVM.
Can I convert my current installation structure in a LVM one ? Do I
have to reinstall all my system ? HOW ?
Potato install doesn't cont

Sure? So, why can I mount my 1,7 GB linux partition?
BTW, I have changed my hard disk now, so when I can get another time

You can just modify the linux kernel to disable the beep support. I
did this some time ago and then you won't listed that beep in any part
of the system. Another way is to unplug it :)

Really easy... add this to your ~/.inputrc:
"\e[[B":" | more"
and if you want that it executes the command inmediately after this:
"\e[[B":" | more\C-m"
so a newline will be sent to the console.

enabled for the old drives, which is disabled by default on them and

Hi all,
In another message I explained that my system crashed when playing
with apm/noflushd and then woody was broken. Well, I think the problem
is not about the disk filesystem because it now seems ok (no symlinks,
bad names, bad sizes, etc).
I've bought (at last! :) a new 20 GB drive, partitio

If you use gdm/kdm/xdm or something like this, edit your ~/.xsession
If you are using startx, ed
