If i think i know what you mean you can just type:
screen -d -R
which will create a new screen session if no old on exists, but will
re-attach your session if one exists. it will also show you the pid of
your other screen sessions if you have more than one.

Battled long and hard today with a very strange problem on my Debian
unstable 3.0 box.
I had my internet connection working fine and then went to go use mozilla
again and found name resolution not to be working; that is, i could not
reach any sites. I then tried Lynx and i could access most
