Some versions of Windows play the CD by reading the data through the IDE
channel, rather than using the soundcard->CDrom cable. I don't know
whether this is true of Win98 but you could check th
t with a user .xinit or .Xsession then it
involves duplicating/overriding the global scripts in a way thats overly
complicated for the sake of a single key, so I don't like that either.

The other alternative is to put it in the .kde/autostart directory but,
well there must be a WM neutral place this should go.
