I thought I might share my experience regarding the FGLRX drivers, as
they are still widely used, possibly also by many on this list.
I own a Thinkpad W500 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics card.
When I installed Debian Squeeze on it, I didn't seriously consider not
installing

page is gone and the repository is empty. Has Christian Marillat given
up?

I have been trying compiz for a while now on two daily updated Debian
Sid installations, one with an NVidia card supported by the
proprietary drivers and one with an onboard graphic chip supported by
the Free/Open Source intel driver, which also has full hardware
acceleration. It works

Hello,
on my box the htdig package is used to index locally available
documentation. What turns out to be a problem is that while indexing
it consumes mad amounts of HD space. du -sh /usr/share/doc reveals
that I have 378 MByte of documentation installed. While indexing,
htdig consumes up to 1,2 G

kpackage works well as an APT frontend, too. Have a look at its
settings menu, choose the "package types" tab and enable "APT:
