Has anyone successfully set up XFree86 to run in 1280x1024 on a machine

I have a DEC 200i. I beleive this machine has a PowerStorm 3D10 graphics

I know this is a little off subject, but I think it's a problem may

I have a ftp server with lot's of files on it. I usually use .tar.gz for
large archives rather than .zip because not all my UNIX users has unzip

I have set up an anonymous FTP according to the guidelines in the ftpd
man page. Everything seems to work fine, except ls. When I do ls, I get
no information. pwd gives me the correct path. I have tried to give full
permission to everything in ~/ftp, but ls still does not give anything.
Any ideas
Greetings from Japan.
I have a DEC 200i with a Cirrus Logic GD5430 graphics card. According to
SuperProbe, I only have 512 bytes of graphic memory. This supposedly
means that I can only display 800x600 in 8 bpp, which I am doing now.
When I set the memory in XF86Config to 2048, X indeed displays

Could someone please advise how to set up a mailing list like the debian-user?
I assume all the software is available in debian, but which packages will be
necessary?
I have Debian running on my SONY VAIO and it works like a dream. Only thing I am
missing is the APM support. I downloaded the kernel source package, etc. and I
am
getting ready to compile the kernel with APM support.
I would like to keep my system "as it" but with APM support. Since I have never
