I just went through this this morning with a Riva TNT card.
The fix for me was at the root command prompt to run nano (text
editor) then ctl R to read file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and remove
the line that says "FB "

can't remember off hand but it has to do with a framebuff

I am coming to Debian after using SUSE for a couple of years because I want to easily
update packages. I am very used to the YAST program to help setup things.
I have a cable modem and a D-Link 614+ router that work fine in SUSE and WinXP. I
would like to use that on my Debian B
