kinda OT: bttv locks my machine solid

I'm trying to get an Askey/Dynalink CPH061 tv/capture card running via bttv/video4linux, latest versions of bttv (0.7.21), latest i2c (2.4.5) (patched the kernel source) and kernel 2.2.14. I have all modules loading correctly (and they report what I expect (see the verbose output from bttv below)

It's possible that update-menus was run under the user account with the recently broken menu package (which is now fixed), update-menus would have been run by root when the menu package was upgraded but the users own menus will not have been updated. Short version : run update-menus as the user, w
