Thanks, your suggestion basically did the trick, although I did end up
having to remove 3 lines from /var/lib/dpkg/available to get it to work.
It appears as though the file was corrupted.
Regarding your question about disk space, I have plenty, so it's
unlikely that was the cause of the corruptio

For the past few weeks I've been unable to upgrade any packages. The
process fails with the following message. I can't tell if this is a
problem with dpkg, debconf, or libkrb53. Any suggestions on how to fix
this would be appreciated. Thanks
