mdadm error messages could be misleading.
First you should check if array is correctly assembled (/proc/mdstat).
If so I think some filesystem/device mapper/lvm/crypto modules are missing
from your initramfs.
Do you encrypt your array or use lvm?

What is the status of hal and xorg integration?
Are package maintainers going to make hal rekomended package or leave it as
is (depends)?

They uploaded corrected versions to master.debian.org/Incoming
but for some reason they were not transferred to Bo. I downloaded
these two packages from Incoming and installed
