Thanks. It is extensive as you say.
Did not realise tweaking the menu was going to be so complicated.
Think I'll just start adding launchers of my most used programs onto
the desktop.

I've had a scratch around in the archives and it seems that gnome menu editor
got dropped back at gnome 2.6 or so and is not available for 2.10 under sarge.
Anybody know why this is and what if anything has replaced it?

I am running sarge and using the Gnome that ships with it.
I have some stuff that I want to move around on the menu. For instance I
would like to create a folder and move all the burner program launchers
(like K3b) into it. Also there are a couple of things like Tellico that

I tried that and it still complained that it did not have permission to create
.gnome and .gnome2
I can't see what the problem is as the permissions seem right.

I am trying to add a user directory but when ever I create a new user it does
not create a home directory for that user and so thus you can't log in.
Why is this not working for me?anybody suggest a way to fix this?

Abit with ATi Radeon chip graphics card won't work under x.
Can't seem to get this set up even if I use the vesa driver.
Anybody ever succeeded with this using 2.6 kernel from Sarge disks.

I want to go through the setup for the graphics side of things as I
think my graphics card is not set up right. I have an nvidia TNT2 PCI
with 32mb of ram. But the best resolution I can get is only 800x600
which means I can't see a lot of stuff on my Sun 21" monitor.

It says I have already installed and am using 2.6.12 - bonus!
On the apt side of thing it seems I didn't have anything enabled. I
have two DVD's that I downloaded for Sarge.
However when I add them I get lots of error messages.
Is contrib is all I need? Are their other sources like updates
